Welcome to The Gorkhaland Chronicle

Hello and welcome.

Happy Independence Day.

It is so very apt that the birth of The Gorkhaland Chronicle should coincide with the most important day in this country’s history.

At the stroke of midnight, 61 years ago, India gained independence from her British rulers. This was the culmination of decades of perseverance and sacrifice, of revolution, of hope and prayer, and most importantly the result of the massive, unprecedented unity of Indians from all walks of life… for the goals of Freedom and Self-Rule.

And so shall it be for Gorkhaland. On this auspicious day, we will all strive to remember the lessons from the birth of our great nation. The lesson of Unity. Of Justice and of Human Rights. And how through democratic means of protest and petition we can achieve our goal for self-governance. Of statehood.

The goal is within reach. The game’s afoot.. Change is in the air.

And this is the journey that the Gorkhaland Chronicle will.. well, chronicle.  Our goal is, at every step, to bring you the facts, and the news, as well as commentary and opinions. And to place events in the perspective of history that they deserve to be in.
